The
gospelchoirs in Kalundborg came to be because of Merete Biltzing. She
had harboured the idea that the Nyvangs Church ought to have a
gospelchoir for a long time. A workshop in june 2005 proved that the
need was there. The number of participants was large. Birgit Holm Petersen was engaged as choirmaster and "Gospel 4All" was
lauched as a one choir january 31st. 2006.
We had estimated that
approximately 60 people would come, but, to our amazement, 155 shoved up.
The interest was huge. We ended up with 120 paying choirmembers, who
rehearsed every fourtnight.
"Gospel 4 All" was born.
In course of the spring it became clear that there were different needs,
and not least, the wish to meet every week was great. Thus in august of
2006 two choirs was initiated.
One choir for those who just wanted to sing and enjoy it, with no
demands attached: Choir 1.
And another choir where the demands were greater, a mixed choir SATB:
Choir 2.
In december of 2006 we were all in all 175 singers, and at that time,
one of the largest choirs in Denmark. And we still are.
Today we are approximately 100 singers, but we have no fixed upper
limit.
The gospel-services held in the church are different from the ordinary
sunday services, but all the ingredients are there. We've just mixed it
around a bit, to make it more temporary. We have two to three
gospel-services a year and two concerts. All of which are announced at
this site under: Coming up, and in the local newspapers. Everyone is
welcome to join us.
